Twin Cities Workshop- March 9, 2019
Danielle Lee hails from Madison, Wisconsin and has been hooping since 2004 and teaching since 2008. She lives to do everything possible to share the transformational joy of hooping. Danielle regularly teaches classes in Madison, and has also taught at flow festivals in the Midwest and Canada.
This will be Danielle’s first visit to the Twin Cities to teach, and she is so excited to offer two classes. You may sign up for one for $25 or both for $40.
Where: Classes will be held at the Walker Community United Methodist Church at 3104 16th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55407
When: Saturday, March 9, 2019, 4:00-6:30 pm
Class 1: Shoulder Hooping, 4:00 pm
Class Level: all levels
Prerequisites: waist hooping
When Danielle first started hooping in 2004, giant irrigation tubing hoops ruled the world, so shoulder hooping came naturally. Now that we live in a hoop world dominated by smaller and lighter hoops, on body shoulder hooping is sometimes forgotten. No more! Learn or refine how to bring the hoop from your waist to your shoulders and back again, how to sustain shoulder hooping with powerful body positioning, and take home some interesting variations. Bring big heavy hoops if you have them! There will also be some to share if you don’t.
Class 2: Break It Until You Make It, 5:15 pm
Class Level: intermediate
Prerequisites: waist hooping is a must, and having experience in shoulder hooping is helpful
Breaks are an excellent way to add rhythm and punctuation to your hoop movement. Whether you are just beginning to find break points and want a solid foundation, or are a break collector like Danielle, this workshop will tighten up your technique and leave you with new ways to send the hoop in the opposite direction.
About the Classes
Hooping is simply irresistible. Never has there been such an activity that brings together movement, expression, and mediation in such an uplifting way. Danielle believes that the focus of hooping is, first and foremost, to have fun and to feel happy. Get ready for laughter, smiles, and a great work out! We will explore hooping's bounds to a variety of musical rhythms, seeking balance, growth in skills, and discovering our connection to the hoop. You will find not only confidence, but endless possibility!
Hoops will be provided for class use, and you are also welcome to bring your own hoop(s). Please wear clothes that are comfortable around your waist and hips (such as stretchy pants) and bring water.
If you are under 16 years of age:
1) you must be accompanied by a parent that is also registered for the class
2) you must receive authorization prior to registration
3) be aware that classes are geared toward adults
When classes are held at the Madison Circus Space, all participants are required to fill out the Madison Circus Space waiver.
You will receive an email from Danielle about a week before the class begins to confirm class details and answer any remaining questions.
Registration is nonrefundable, but it is transferrable. Contact Danielle if you need to transfer your class registration to another individual, or need help finding another person to take your place. If the class is a series, the entire series must be transferred (individual classes cannot be transferred).
When classes fill you will no longer be able to register on the website. Please email Danielle at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, email, and a phone number. You will then be placed on the wait list.
